Womens Tennis Drops 7-2 Decision At Saint Anselm
Smilovich, Alexander win doubles; Deronjic picks up singles victory

MANHCESTER, N.H. (April 15, 2009)
– The Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team
was defeated, 7-2, in Northeast-10 Conference play at Saint Anselm
on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman Drew Alexander (Long
Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) and sophomore Lauren Smilovich (Meriden, Conn./Sacred Heart
Academy) posted a win for Franklin Pierce in second doubles.
They teamed to defeat freshman Amanda Brahm (Marlborough,
Conn./Mercy) and junior Mary Gaughan (Scituate, Mass./Notre Dame
Academy) of Saint Anselm, 8-3.
Freshman Suzana Deronjic (Melrose,
Mass./Melrose) notched the other point for the Ravens with a
win in first singles. She led Saint Anselm junior Virginia
Dalrymple (Surry, Maine/Ellsworth) 5-2 and won by default as
Dalrymple retired.
For Saint Anselm, senior McAul Lindermuth (Pepperall, Mass./North
Middlesex Regional) and junior Mary Mindek (Willington, Conn./Edwin
O. Smith) each posted victories in both singles and doubles.
The Ravens (2-10, 2-9 Northeast-10) return to the court on Friday,
April 17, when they travel to Merrimack for a Northeast-10
Conference match at 3 p.m. in North Andover, Mass. Saint Rose (5-4,
5-4 Northeast-10) returns to action on April 16 at home against
Merrimack.
