Womens Tennis Blanked At Saint Rose, 9-0
Ravens back in action April 15 at Saint Anselm
Monica Lavertu and the Ravens were defeated on Saturday afternoon
at Saint Rose.

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 11, 2009) –
The Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team was
defeated, 9-0, in Northeast-10 Conference play at Saint Rose on
Saturday afternoon.
Junior Monica Lavertu (Berlin,
N.H./Berlin) posted one of the strongest showings of the day
for the Ravens, as she won the first set, 6-3, over Saint Rose
freshman Erica Edwards (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) in sixth
singles before dropping the second set, 6-2, and the tie-breaker,
10-5. Lavertu teamed with junior Bianca LaPointe (Plainfield, Conn./Saint
Bernard) in third doubles and was defeated, 8-4, by Edwards
and sophomore Kimberly Schacher (Cobleskill,
N.Y./Cobleskill-Richmondville).
All six Saint Rose players posted wins in both singles and doubles
as the Golden Knights swept their way to the victory.
The Ravens (2-9, 2-8 Northeast-10) return to the court on
Wednesday, April 15, when they travel to Saint Anselm for a
Northeast-10 Conference match at 3 p.m. in Manchester, N.H. Saint
Rose (4-13, 3-8 Northeast-10) returns to action on April 15 at
Saint Michael’s.
