Franklin Pierce Falls to Wisconsin-La Crosse, 9-0

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 19, 2008) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team fell to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse by a score of 9-0 in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior Debbie Braun (Cottage Grove, Wisc./Nicolet), sophomore Carlie Bohrman (Oconomowoc, Wisc./Oconomowoc) and freshman Katie McDonald (Green Bay, Wisc./Bay Port) each won a pair of matches for the Eagles against Franklin Pierce. Bohrman did not lose a game in either of her matchups on the day, sweeping both her first doubles match (8-0) and her first singles victory over Raven freshman Lauren Smilovich (Meriden, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) (6-0, 6-0).

Braun and McDonald combined for an 8-1 win at second doubles, and the pair then earned individual wins at second and third singles, respectively. Braun defeated sophomore Mariana Zahora (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua), 6-1, 6-2, while McDonald took down sophomore Bianca LaPointe (Plainfield, Conn./Saint Bernard), 6-1, 6-0.

Franklin Pierce (0-8, 0-5 NE-10) finishes up its Spring Break trip on Thursday morning, when the Ravens take on the University of Southern Nazarene in Orlando, Fla., at 9 a.m. Wisconsin-La Crosse (9-5, 2-4 WIAC) takes on Milsaps College on Thursday at 8 a.m.
