Swimming Competes in Quad-Meet at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. (October 21, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's swimming team was back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they made the cross-county trip to Keene State for a quad-meet. The Ravens squared off with the host Owls, as well as Colby-Sawyer and fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Saint Michael's.

The Ravens were defeated by all three opponents on Saturday, including a very narrow, 106-04 loss to Colby-Sawyer. Franklin Pierce fell to Saint Michael's, 213-57, and to host Keene State, 234-36.

The Ravens put together an octet of top-five individual finishes on Saturday, with three different swimmers posting two top-fives each. The highest finish of the day came via freshman Maggie Miller (Northampton, Mass.), who took third in the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 27.03 seconds. She also turned in a time of 1:00.89 in the 100-yard freestyle, which was good for fifth place.

Freshman Emalee Frady (Anaheim, Calif.) also posted a pair of top-five swims in freestyle events. She finished fourth in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.97) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:50.51).

Freshman Danielle Ward (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was the remaining Raven with a pair of top-five finishes, as she took fifth in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. She posted a time of 1:19.10 at the shorter distance, and stopped the clock at 2:54.37 for the longer swim.

The remaining top-five finishes for Franklin Pierce came courtesy of freshmen Emily DeVivo (Berlin, Conn.) and Josephine Krysinski (Olympia, Wash.) in the 100-yard backstroke and 1000-yard freestyle, respectively. DeVivo placed fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 1:09.94, while Krysinski was fifth in the 1000-yard freestyle, with a mark of 12:32.11.

The Ravens return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 4, when they travel to Wellesley for a dual meet at 1 p.m., at Chandler Pool in Wellesley, Mass.
