RINDGE, N.H. (9/16/2023) –
Franklin Pierce University women's soccer recorded its first loss of the season Saturday night falling 1-0 to the number four nationally ranked Saint Rose Golden Knights.

The Ravens are now 1-1-2 (0-1-0, NE-10) on the season, the Golden Knights improve to 5-0-0 (1-0-0, NE10).

In the first half, the Ravens outshot the Golden Knights four to three but neither team could find the back of the net. Through the first 45 minutes the score remained tied at 0-0.

The scoreless trend continued until the 67th minute when a yellow card on FPU freshman Emily Schmolke (Boesel, Germany) led to a Saint Rose a penalty kick opportunity. Graduate Student Elina Seppala of the Golden Knights lined up and then fired a shot bottom right past Franklin Pierce goalie Emilie Fox (Bridgewater, Mass.).

The lone PK goal was enough to decide the game as neither team found the net in the remaining 33 minutes of the game.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce women's soccer will face the Saint Anselm College Hawks at Saint Anselm on Tuesday September 19th at 4:00 PM.
