Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer Weekly Report (PDF)

RINDGE, N.H. (October 3, 2018) – Junior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, for the week ending on Sept. 30, as announced late Tuesday by the Conference office. In addition, freshman back Cristina Barbellido (Madrid, Spain) has been named Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Marques piled up eight points in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens. She scored a penalty-kick goal and added an assist in Wednesday night’s 3-1 win over Stonehill at home. On Saturday night, Marques scored twice, including the game-winner, and added an assist for a five-point night in a 3-0 home win over Assumption.

It is the second NE10 Player of the Week award for Marques this fall.

On the season, Marques has played in all nine games and is the Ravens’ leading scoring thus far. She has piled up 20 points on eight goals and four assists, including five game-winning goals. Marques has attempted 44 shots, including 26 on goal.

For her part, Barbellido was part of a defensive unit which surrendered only eight shots on goal in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens. She also contributed an assist on the game-winning goal in Saturday night’s shutout victory over Assumption.

The accolade marks Barbellido’s first career NE10 weekly award.

On the season, Barbellido has started in all nine games for the Ravens, and is part of a defensive unit which is surrendering just 0.88 goals against per game. She has tacked on two assists and attempted seven shots (two on goal) along the way.

The Ravens (8-1-0) return to the field on Saturday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Merrimack for an NE10 contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Martone-Mejail Field in North Andover, Massachusetts.
