First-Half Ono Goal Leads Women’s Soccer Over SNHU, 1-0

RINDGE, N.H. (October 22, 2016) – Junior midfielder Midori Ono (Tokyo, Japan) provided the only offense on the day on Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field, as the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win on the road at Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 6-6-2 (4-6-2 Northeast-10), while Southern New Hampshire falls to 8-7-1 (5-6-1 Northeast-10).

The only offense of the day came in the 42nd minute, just 3:33 before halftime. Ono put home her first collegiate goal by salting away a rebound off of a free kick. Senior forward Madison Finlay (Plymouth, Mass.) picked up the assist on the play, as the Ravens took a 1-0 lead they would hold through the rest of the afternoon.

Over the course of the full 90 minutes, Franklin Pierce held advantages of 8-5 in shot attempts, 6-1 in shots on goal and 2-1 in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Casey Cook (Beverly, Mass.) made a save on the only shot on her goal to pick up the win (6-6-2) and tally her fourth shutout of the season for the Ravens. Junior netminder Paige Salmon (4-5-0) collected five saves against six shots on goal at the other end of the field in a losing effort for SNHU.

The Ravens return to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 26, when they return home to host Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Sodexo Field in Rindge.
