Women’s Soccer Blanks Post, 1-0

Waterbury, Conn. (October 22, 2015) -- Senior forward Hannah Weagle (Ipswich, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute on Thursday, to lift the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win on the road at Post in non-conference play at LaMoy Field.

With the win, the Ravens improved to 7-7-0, while Post fell to 8-5-1 on their season.

Offense was tough to come by for both sides in the first half. Franklin Pierce had the only two shots on goal of the half, while the two teams combined for just six shot attempts and neither side could open the scoring.

The second half was a similar situation, though with more shots fired, as both the Ravens and Eagles generated offense, but were unable to finish until the final 10 minutes.

In the 83rd minute Franklin Pierce finally capitalized on an opportunity as Weagle came down the left side of the field and put a shot into the lower-right corner, past Post senior keeper Laura Morgan for the lead.

The Eagles were unable to break through the Ravens defense to answer the goal, and Franklin Pierce would finish off the shutout.

Over the 90 minutes, the Ravens would take 12 shots to the Eagles six, while Ravens senior keeper Katie Weldon (Manchester, N.H.) made two saves as her record improved to 3-3-0 and she posted her second shutout of the season. Morgan made five saves for Post, but her record fell to 7-5-1.

The Ravens return home on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m., when they play host to Southern New Hampshire.
