Hannah Weagle Scores Twice to Spark Women's Soccer to 2-0 Win at Bentley

Casey Edward makes a pair of saves in goal to earn the victory

WALTHAM, Mass. (September 26, 2012) -- Freshman forward Hannah Weagle (Ipswich, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to spark the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team to a 2-0 triumph at Bentley on Wednesday in Waltham, Mass. The win snapped a four-match winless streak for the Ravens as they improved to 4-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Northeast-10. Bentley fell to 3-3-2 and 1-3-2 in league play.

Weagle's two tallies were her team-leading seventh and eighth of the season. The two goals tied a season-high for Weagle as she also notched two markers in a season-opening win over Caldwell on Sept. 1. She has scored at least one goal in six of eight matches this season.

Weagle logged her first goal in the 39th minute as she tracked down a loose ball off a free kick and sent home a strike to the back of the net to put the Ravens up 1-0.

She struck again in the 72nd minute, this time with a header to the back of the goal after graduate midfielder Aya Noguchi (Tokyo, Japan) sent a nice pass into the box and earning an assist on the play.

Franklin Pierce outshot Bentley, 16-4, in the contest, including logging eight shots apiece in each half. Senior goalkeeper Casey Edward (Marshfield, Mass.) made a pair of saves to earn the victory and run her record to 3-2-1 on the season. Christiana Hynds started in goal for the Falcons and was tagged with the loss to fall 3-3-2. She made seven saves in the setback.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday when they travel to New York to face Adelphi at 1 p.m.
