HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens scored their first goal of the season just 45 seconds into the game. After the Ravens secured the opening draw, senior midfielder Kayli Hoefs (Amsterdam, NY) drove downhill into the offensive zone. As Hoefs drew the double, she dumped the ball to a cutting Riley Beem (Windham, ME), who buried a shot bottom left giving the Ravens an early 1-0 lead.
  • The Lions grabbed control just minutes later, scoring five unanswered goals to close out the first quarter with a 5-1 lead.
  • After another goal from the Lions to start the second quarter, the Ravens responded with a goal from Kayli Hoefs off of a free position shot. With two quarters down, the Lions held a sturdy 7-2 lead.
  • Coming out of halftime, the Ravens worked to claw their way back into the game fueled by a free position shot goal from Emily Ulmer (Bedford, NH) and another goal from Hoefs which came unassisted. At just under nine minutes left in the third, the Lions responded with goal from Megan Rugolo off a free position shot but neither team found the back of the net for the following eight minutes.
  • During the fourth quarter, Hoefs scored a third time and secured a hattrick, but the Lions dumped in another four goals and walked away with the 12-5 victory.
