Caitlin Sweeney Named to All-NE10 Third Team, Women’s Lacrosse Has Three Honored by Conference

RINDGE, N.H. (May 4, 2018) – Senior midfielder Caitlin Sweeney (Shirley, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team has capped her career with a selection to the All-Northeast-10 Conference Third Team, as announced on Friday morning by the Conference office. In addition, freshman attack Caroline Lounsbury (Franklin, Mass.) and freshman midfielder Zoe Totland (Salt Lake City, Utah) have been named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team.

It is the second career All-NE10 selection for Sweeney, who landed on the Second Team a year ago and was also selected to the All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2015.

Sweeney chalked up a team-best 82 points in her senior campaign, which currently ranks seventh in the NE10. She also ranks fourth in the league in draw controls (98), sixth in goals (60), tied for sixth in ground balls (49), eighth in shots on goal (93), ninth in shot attempts (123) and 16th in assists (22). Sweeney finished her career ranked second all-time in school history in goals (194), assists (60) and points (254).

Lounsbury opened her career with a 38-point season, on 34 goals and four assists. The 34 goals are currently good enough to crack the top 35 in the league, as she is tied for 34th in the NE10. Along the way, Lounsbury added six ground balls, 10 draw controls and two caused turnovers. She attempted 59 shots, which included 48 shots on goal.

For her part, Totland finished her freshman year with 27 points, on 21 goals and six assists. She collected 25 ground balls and 62 draw controls, while causing eight turnovers. The 62 draw controls currently rank 17th in the NE10. Totland attempted 61 shots on the year, of which 41 were on goal.

The Ravens finished the 2018 campaign at 6-9, which included a 4-9 mark in the NE10. The team finished two games back of qualifying for its second straight NE10 Championship.
