Freshman midfielder leads Ravens to 2-0 week

RINDGE, N.H. (March 26, 2015) – Freshman midfielder Caitlin Sweeney (Shirley, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, for the week ending on March 22, as announced earlier this week by the Conference office.

The Ravens went 2-0 last week, with Sweeney piling up 11 points along the way, on 10 goals -- including one game-winner -- and one assist. She attempted 23 shots (18 on goal) over the two games and went 2-for-3 on free-position shots. Sweeney also chipped in three ground balls, six draw controls and two caused turnovers, while turning the ball over five times.

Through the first six games of her collegiate career, Sweeney has tallied 28 points (21-7-28) while attempting 49 shots (36 on goal) to lead the team in points, goals, assists, shot attempts and shots on goal. She has also added six ground balls, 15 draw controls and four caused turnovers, while committing 15 turnovers of her own.

It is the first career Northeast-10 weekly honor for Sweeney.

The Ravens (4-2, 2-2 Northeast-10) return to the field on Saturday, March 28, when they remain home to host defending national champion and No. 1 nationally ranked Adelphi. Game time is set for noon at Sodexo Field.
