Women’s Lacrosse Wraps up 2013 Campaign with 18-6 Loss at No. 4 Le Moyne

Lamagdeleine Lamadeleine finishes her career with 64 goals after scoring in her final collegiate game on Saturday at Le Moyne.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (April 25, 2013) – Senior attacker Ashley Lamagdeleine (Westfield, Mass.) and senior midfielder Courtney Weber (Centerport, N.Y.) each scored in their final collegiate game on Saturday, but the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-6 decision on the road against No. 4 nationally ranked Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference play at Athletic Turf Complex. Senior attacker Brenna Bauer tallied five points on three goals and two assists to lead the way for Le Moyne, which heads into next week's Northeast-10 Championship as the top seed.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce wraps up its season at 3-12 (2-10 Northeast-10), while Le Moyne improves to 14-2 (11-1 Northeast-10).

After freshman midfielder Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.) opened the scoring for Franklin Pierce, Le Moyne scored the next four, including a goal and two assists from Bauer, to take a 4-1 lead 9:32 into the first half. Freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Armstrong picked up a goal and an assist for Le Moyne in the first 10 minutes as well.

From there, the Ravens scored three of the next five goals to cut the gap to 6-4 with 13:20 to play in the first half. Freshman attacker Nicole Dale (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored the first of her two goals, while sophomore midfielder Madeline Shopshire (Hyannis, Mass.) added an unassisted goal as well. Weber capped the mini-run with her final collegiate goal, her 22nd of the season and the 107th of her career, on a free-position attempt. She is one of five players in program history to top 100 career goals.

Le Moyne would score the final four goals of the first half to take a 10-4 lead into the intermission, and then added the first four of the second half as well to put the game out of reach at 14-4. Bauer scored twice more to notch all five of her points in the first half, while Armstrong added another goal and junior attacker Kathleen Conese scored twice.

Lamagdeleine snapped the eight-goal run with 15:21 to play in regulation with her 16th score of the season, the 64th and final goal of her career. After spending much of her first two seasons coming off the bench for the Ravens, she scored 44 of those 64 goals over her junior and senior campaigns.

Dale scored the final goal for the Ravens with 4:28 to play to complete her multiple-goal game, while Beville added the assist to make it a two-point afternoon for her as well. Sophomore attacker Catie McKay scored twice in the second half for Le Moyne.

Defensively, Dale led the Ravens with four ground balls, while sophomore midfielder Amanda Gauvin (Ashburnham, Mass.) caused two turnovers. For Le Moyne, senior defender Molly Maroney caused four turnovers and picked up two ground balls.

In net, junior Jacqueline Jolles (Hamden, Conn.) started and made seven saves against 22 shots on goal over 46:59 to take the loss (2-7) for Franklin Pierce. Sophomore Molly Marbut minded the net for 51:27 and made five saves against 10 shots on goal to pick up the win (14-2) for Le Moyne.
