BOXSCORE

WALTHAM, Mass. (April 16, 2010) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team battled Bentley tough on Friday night, but allowed three late goals to drop a tough 17-14 decision in Waltham, Mass. The Ravens fell to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Northeast-10, while the Falcons improved to 7-6 and 4-3 in league play.

Courtney Weber (Centerport, N.Y.) and Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass.) each tallied four points on the evening to pace the Franklin Pierce offensive attack. Weber had two goals and two assists, while Baillargeon threw in a tally and assisted on three other goals. Mary Kate Stille (North Quincy, Mass.) scored a team-high three goals, while Lindsey Leach (Hamden, Conn.) and Lauren Stille (North Quincy, Mass.) were the other two Ravens to log multiple goals as each scored twice.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jillian Bolduc (Atkinson, N.H.) started in net and suffered the loss as she made 12 saves while yielding the 17 goals.

Cori Geiger led the way for Bentley with six points on four goals and two assists. Megan Wiggins and Alex Carney each threw in a trio of goals, while Carney had a four-point afternoon as she assisted on another goal.

Julia Powell started in goal for the Falcons and played the entire first half, but Kate Poznick spelled her in the second half and got the win as she made six saves and yielded just five goals in the final 30 minutes.

Franklin Pierce came out of the gates firing shots and built a 4-1 lead five minutes into the contest. Four different Ravens scored during the opening surge, including Webber, Christine
McKay (Norwood, Mass.) and both Stille's.

Bentley settled after the slow start and eventually scored six of the half's final nine goals to pull even at 9-9 at halftime. Maureen Fields scored back-to-back goals during the late surge.

Both teams continued to trade goals in early going of the second half and the score was tied at 12-12 with 17:27 remaining following Franklin Pierce goals from Kimberly Jaksina (Townsend, Mass.) and Mary Kate Stille.

However, Bentley rallied and outscored the Ravens, 5-2, the rest of the way to pull out the three-goal victory. Geiger and Taylor Bastien threw in back-to-back goals to spark the rally, while Geiger capped it with one final marker with 7:12 to go.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Tuesday night when the Ravens play host to American International at 6 p.m. in Sodexo Field. The game is a "Pierce Pride" contest as free giveaways will be handed out to 150 students during the event.
