Women's Lacrosse Falls to #6 Stonehill, 15-4, on Saturday

Mary Kate Stille leads Ravens with two goals, marking second-straight game she led team in scoring

RINDGE, N.H. (April 10, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team fell to sixth-ranked Stonehill, 15-4, on Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field in Rindge, N.H. The Ravens fell to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the Northeast-10, while the Skyhawks improved to 8-1 and 6-1 in league play.

Mary Kate Stille (North Quincy, Mass.) led Franklin Pierce with a pair of goals, marking the second-consecutive contest she had a team-high in tallies. She threw in a team-best three goals in Franklin Pierce’s game at Southern New Hampshire on Thursday night.

Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass.) and Ashley Moirano (Vero Beach, Fla.) each added a goal for the Ravens, while sophomore goalkeeper Jillian Bolduc (Atkinson, N.H.) started in net and suffered the setback despite making an impressive 18 saves.

Hannah Anderson led all goal scorers on the afternoon as she notched five scores for Stonehill. Sam Lynott and Sarah Galligan each scored three times for the Skyhawks, while Galligan registered a seven-point afternoon as she assisted on four other goals. Rebecca Moore needed to make just seven saves in goal to earn the win for Stonehill.

Anderson scored the game’s first two goals in the opening five minutes, but Stille tossed in a score to pull the Ravens to within 2-1 with 23:01 left in the first half.

The Skyhawks didn’t flinch and responded by scoring six-straight goals to open up an 8-1 advantage with 7:33 to go until halftime. Anderson had two tallies during the surge and kick-started it with a goal, while Lynott aided the cause with two scores.

Stille threw in her second of the game off a free position attempt with 4:34 left in the half. However, Kayla Green notched Stonehill’s ninth and final tally of the half with 2:55 remaining as she scored off a free position attempt as well.

Moirano scored nearly two minutes into the second half to pull the Ravens to within 9-3, but Stonehill countered with another 6-0 run to go up by double-digit goals and seal the win. Galligan had two goals during the late rally.

Stonehill outshot Franklin Pierce by a count of 46-17 and forced the Ravens into 25 turnovers.

Franklin Pierce returns to action on Wednesday when the Ravens travel to Manchester to take on Saint Anselm at 4 p.m.
