WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 16, 2009) - The University of New Haven, ranked No. 8 in this week's Division II national poll, posted a 25-11 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse action this afternoon.

Sophomore Ashley Ferrandiz (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) set a program record with nine points to lead New Haven to victory as she netted seven goals to go with two assists. Senior Brigid Brady (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) added four goals, while senior Mallory Ferrandiz (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) supported her younger sister with three goals and an assist for four points.

Sophomore Lauren Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) led Franklin Pierce in its season-opener with four goals, while classmate Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) added two goals and an assist for three points. Sophomore Ashley Moirano (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) posted a goal and two assists for three points, while freshman Mary Kate Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) netted two goals in her collegiate debut.

Freshman Maureen Spellman (Trumbull, Conn./St. Joseph) and junior Shannon Greenwood (East Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) split the goalkeeping duties for New Haven. Spellman didn't make a save in yielding seven first half goals, while Greenwood posted a stop in the second half. Freshman Jillian Bolduc (Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane) played all 60 minutes and made 17 saves in her collegiate debut for Franklin Pierce.

Franklin Pierce (0-1, 0-1 NE-10) is back in action on Wednesday, when it faces Saint Michael's College for a non-conference contest here in Winter Park, Fla., at 4 p.m. The Ravens home opener is scheduled for next Tuesday, March 24, when it hosts Bentley University at 7 p.m. New Haven (3-0, 2-0 NE-10) faces Rollins College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
