Bolduc Named NE-10 Freshman of the Week

Atkinson, N.H., native earns award for first time after helping Ravens clinch playoff berth

RINDGE, N.H. (April 27, 2009) - Franklin Pierce University goalkeeper Jillian Bolduc (Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Freshman of the Week for women's lacrosse this afternoon.

Bolduc, who earns the award for the first time, averaged 17 saves and posted a .515 save percentage while totaling a team-best 11 ground balls to go with four caused turnovers over two games for Franklin Pierce last week. She opened the week by making 12 saves to go with six ground balls and two caused turnovers in the Ravens 17-11 victory at American International College on Tuesday. Two days later, she stopped a season-high 22 shots while adding five ground balls and two caused turnovers in a loss to Merrimack College to close out the regular season. Her 22 saves are the eighth highest single game total in an NCAA Division II game this season as well as the eighth best single game total in program history.

Bolduc earns NE-10 Freshman of the Week honors for the first time. She ranks among NCAA Division II leaders in saves per game and save percentage in her first collegiate season.

Bolduc has played all 912 of Franklin Pierce's minutes in goal in her first collegiate season and currently ranks fifth in Division II with 13.73 saves per game (2nd NE-10) and 18th with her .469 save percentage (3rd NE-10). She has posted a 15.33 goals against average (5th NE-10), while also totaling 31 ground balls and eight caused turnovers for the season. Ravens opponents are also just 50-for-145 (34.5-percent) on free-position attempts this spring.

Bolduc has begun to etch her name into the record books in just her first year at Franklin Pierce. Her minutes played so far is the third-highest single-season total in program history and good enough to place her fifth on the program's career chart. She also ranks fifth on the Ravens all-time single-season list with 206 saves - a total which is good enough for fourth on the program's career list.

Franklin Pierce (7-8, 4-6 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow night when visits third-seeded Southern New Hampshire University for first round action of the Northeast-10 Tournament at 7 p.m. The sixth-seeded Ravens, who have set a new program record for wins and matched the program record for NE-10 victories, is making just its second postseason appearance in program history and first since 2003.
