Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Bentley, 15-10

Savini leads Ravens with five points

Carla Savini Carla Savini scored two goals and added an assist on Tuesday night against Bentley.

RINDGE, N.H. (March 24, 2009) – Junior midfielder Jaclyn Griffin (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) scored three times and added four assists to total seven points on Tuesday night to lead Bentley to a 15-10 victory over the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce’s Sodexo Field. Senior attacker Carla Savini (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) tallied five points on two goals and three assists in defeat for Franklin Pierce.

Franklin Pierce struck for the first goal of the game, when freshman defender Kimberly Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) scored off a feed from sophomore attacker Ashley Moirano (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) just 58 seconds into the contest. However, Bentley would score the next four goals to take a 4-1 lead and would never lead by less than three goals throughout the remainder of the game.

After Griffin’s seven points, Bentley was led by sophomore attacker Leigh Tedeschi (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury), who tallied six goals off the bench for the Falcons. In addition, junior attacker Erica de Silva (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth HS) scored four points on two goals and two assists and freshman attacker Olivia Bouchard (Warwick, R.I./Loomis-Chaffee) chipped in two goals and an assist for three points.

For Franklin Pierce, after Savini’s five points, it was Moirano and sophomore attacker Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) who led the way with four points apiece. Baillargeon collected three goals and an assist, while Moirano contributed two goals and two assists. In addition, Jaksina scored two goals to finish with two points, while sophomore defender Jillian Benn (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) tallied two points with a pair of assists.

The Ravens (1-3, 0-2 Northeast-10) return to the field on Thursday, March 26, when they host Assumption in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Sodexo Field. Bentley (2-4, 1-1 Northeast-10) returns to action on March 26 against Saint Michael’s.
