Lauren Stille piles up 10 points for Ravens
Lauren Stille piled up a career-high 10 points on eight goals and
two assists against Assumption on Thursday night.

RINDGE, N.H. (March 26, 2009) –
Sophomore attacker Lauren Stille
(North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) matched her career high
with eight goals and added two assists to finish with a career-best
10 points on Thursday night to lead the Franklin Pierce University
women’s lacrosse team to a 19-13 victory over Assumption in
Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Senior midfielder
Shannon Howard (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip) led Assumption with six
points on four goals and two assists in defeat.
The two teams traded goals early on before Franklin Pierce used a
four-goal run capped by a pair of scores from sophomore attacker
Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield,
Mass./Westfield) to take a 6-2 lead with 19:28 to play in
the first half. Assumption would pull within one at 6-5 and 8-7,
but Franklin Pierce took a 9-7 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, Franklin Pierce led 13-10 with 20 minutes to
play before it was able to score four of the next five goals to
take a 17-11 lead with 5:01 to play and all but put the game
away.
Behind Stille’s career night, Franklin Pierce was led by
freshman midfielder Christine
McKay (Norwood, Mass./Norwood), who finished with five
points on two goals and three assists. Baillargeon and freshman
attacker Brianna Nash (Oceanside,
N.Y./Oceanside) scored four goals apiece for the Ravens,
while freshman attacker Mary Kate
Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) added two points
on a goal and an assist.
After Howard’s six points, sophomore defender Sarah Roos
(Feeding Hills, Mass./Agawam) led Assumption with four points on
two goals and two assists. Sophomore attacker Becca Kelley
(Westfield, Mass./Westfield) added three points on two goals and an
assist while junior attacker Emily Morrell (Bethany, Conn./Amity)
and sophomore midfielder Erin Theriault (Feeding Hills,
Mass./Agawam) each netted a pair of goals.
Freshman goalkeeper Jillian Bolduc
(Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane) made nine saves in net for
Franklin Pierce to post the victory. Freshman Julie Verbic
(Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) stopped 12 shots for Assumption in
defeat.
The Ravens (2-3, 1-2 Northeast-10) return to the field on Monday,
March 30, when they travel to Keene State for a non-conference
contest. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Owl Athletic Complex
in Keene, N.H. Assumption (0-3, 0-2 Northeast-10) returns to action
on March 29 at home against Saint Michael’s.
