Women's Ice Hockey: Prive Nets Game-Winner in 1-0 Victory Over Assumption on Senior Night

WINCHENDON, M.A. (2/17/2024) – The Franklin Pierce women's ice hockey team sent their seniors off with a win on Saturday night in their final game in Winchendon, inching past the Assumption Greyhounds 1-0 in the season finale.

Records: Franklin Pierce (15-15-1, 14-13-1 NEWHA), Assumption (10-20-4, 10-14-4 NEWHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The lone goal of the hockey game came in the 1st period. Freshman forward Lauren Maras (Alexandria, Minn.) deflected a shot from the blue line that went right in front of the net for senior forward Emilie Prive (Morrisville, Vt.), who batted the puck down and tucked it in for the 1-0 lead, with 7:03 left in the 1st period. McKenzie Rich (Rochester, Minn.) was also credited with an assist. 

 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS: 

  • Sophomore netminder Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.) recorded her 2nd shutout of the season, stopping all 40 shots she faced.  

  • Emilie Prive played her 100th career game in a Ravens uniform on Senior Night. Forward Jenna Hartung (Burnsville, Minn.), forward Jenna Ruiz (Webster, Wis.), defenseman Delaney Bonifacio (Traverse City, Mich.), and forward Claire Casey (Superior, Wis.) were also recognized on Senior Night for the Ravens. 

 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: 

The Ravens square off against the Sacred Heart Pioneers for the third consecutive time in the NEWHA playoffs. The quarterfinal series begins on Fri (2/23) at Martire Family Arena in Fairfield, CT, with the puck drop for Game 1 slated for 7 PM. Game 2 will take place on Saturday (2/24) with a 7 PM puck drop. If necessary, Game 3 will be on Sunday with puck drop at 3 PM.
