Women's Ice Hockey: Ravens Sweep Weekend Series With 2-0 Win Over Post

SHELTON, CONN. (1/27/24) - The Ravens completed their two-game sweep of the Post Eagles with a 2-0 win on Saturday.

Records: Franklin Pierce (13-12-0, 12-10-0 NEWHA), Post (6-22-0, 6-16-0 NEWHA) 
Location: Sports Center of Connecticut: Shelton, Conn.
Date: Saturday, January 27th, 2024 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The first period ended with no score and both teams evenly matched. Each team posted 10 shots on goal in the first twenty minutes.  

  • Halfway through the second period, the Ravens broke the tie. Sophomore forward Grace Schuck (Bloomington, MN) grabbed a rebound and buried a shot into the back of the net.  

  • The Ravens would dominate the rest of the second period, outshooting the Eagles 15-8. 

  • The Ravens' second goal came toward the end of the third period. Junior forward Emilie Prive (Morrisville, VT) shot a loose puck from the slot off the right post and in.  

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:  

  • Sophomore goaltender Jill Hertl (Highland Park, IL) completed the shutout, saving all 29 of Post's shots. 

  • The Ravens outshot the Eagles 32 to 29.  

  • The Ravens won 31 faceoffs compared to the Eagles' 14. 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS:  

The Ravens will gear up for a home-and-home series against their intra-state rival, the Saint Anselm Hawks next weekend. Game 1 is in Manchester, NH at the Thomas F. Sullivan Ice Arena on Friday, February 2nd, 2024. Puck Drop is at 6:00 pm.
