Women's Ice Hockey: Ravens snap two-game losing streak against Post, 3-1

SHELTON, C.T (1/26/2024) -- The Franklin Pierce women's hockey snapped their two-game losing streak on the road tonight in game one of the weekend series against Post University, winning 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Franklin Pierce scored all three of their goals tonight in the second period. 

• Halfway through the second period, sophomore transfer forward Anna Caumo (Brunico, Italy) scored her eighth goal of the season, second on the power play to give Franklin Pierce a 1-0 lead. A little over three minutes later, senior forward Jenna Ruiz (Webster, Wis.) scored her sixth goal of the season to give the Ravens a two-goal lead. 

• With under three minutes to play in the second period, sophomore transfer defender Maggie Korneta (Naperville, III) scored her fourth goal of the season to give the Ravens a 3-0 lead. Korneta now has three goals in four games.  

• The Eagles got on the board less than six minutes into the third period to cut the Franklin Pierce lead to two. Sophomore forward Tristian Currie scored her fifth goal of the season. She now has four goals in seven games. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

• Sophomore goaltender Olivia Klunowski (Toronto, Ontario) picked up her third win of the season. She made 28 saves on 29 shots. 

• Franklin Pierce was 2 for 5 on the power play. Post was 0 for 5 on the power play. 

• Franklin Pierce outshot Post 46-29. 

• Franklin Pierce won 27 faceoffs. 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS

• The weekend series concludes tomorrow between Franklin Pierce and Post at the Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton, Connecticut, with puck drop at 2:15 p.m.  

• Tomorrow is the final meeting of the regular season between these two teams, and Franklin Pierce has a 3-0 season-series lead.
