Women's Ice Hockey: Ravens Held Scoreless in Weekend Series Final vs. Assumption

Worcester, Mass. (12/9/2023) -- The Franklin Pierce Women's Ice Hockey team were shutout on the road versus Assumption to split the weekend series to close out the year 2023.  

Score: Franklin Pierce 0, Assumption 4 
Records: Franklin Pierce (7-10-0, 7-8-0 NEWHA); Assumption (5-13-1, 5-7-1 NEWHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Greyhounds got on the board first at the 6-minute mark off a rebound opportunity from Alexa Hanrahan who had the puck find her stick and get it past Raven goaltender Olivia Klunowski (Toronto, Ontario) to take a 1-0 lead, a lead they wouldn't relinquish.  

  • Then a minute later, the Greyhounds got into the crease at it was Sheridan Terrazzano who finished it making it a 2-0 game.  

  • Scoring would be on pause until 11 minutes into the second period when a miscommunicated pass from Makenzie Rich (Rochester, Minn.) got intercepted by Kayla McGaffigan who scored the shorthanded goal making it 3-0.  

  • McGaffigan would score the final goal in the third period with 6 minutes left, weaved through traffic and put it in securing the win for the Greyhounds.  

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS: 

  • Olivia Klunowksi made 28 saves on 32 shots. Jadyn Weiser made 43 saves on 43 shots.  

  • Franklin Pierce outshot Assumption 43-32 

  • The Ravens were 0 for 6 on the power play while the Greyhounds were 1 for 6. 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: 

  • The Ravens will get some time off and won't be back on the ice until January 3rd on the road against Dartmouth, puck drop at 7 pm.
