Women’s Ice Hockey: Ravens Offense Explodes in Dominant 4-0 Win Over Assumption

WINCHENDON, M.A. (12/8/23)

By: Colin Struckman

Location: Jason Ritchie Ice Arena

Score: Franklin Pierce 4, Assumption 0

Records: Franklin Pierce (7-9-0, 7-7-0), Assumption (4-13-1, 4-7-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Caumo (Brunico, Italy) opened the scoring for the Ravens in the 1st period. Caumo forced a takeaway in the offensive zone and dished the puck to Grace Schuck (Bloomington, Minn.) who slid it to Caumo who then tucked it in on the back right post, giving the Ravens the 1-0 lead. Jenna Sharland (San Jose, Calif.) also got credited with the assist.

  • Claire Casey (Superior, Wisc.) added on to the Ravens lead to make it 2-0 in the 1st period. Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) got her stick on the puck and poked it toward Casey, who tapped it in.

  • The Greyhounds couldn't stop the bleeding in the 2nd period as the Ravens capitalized on their first power play of the evening. McKenzie Rich (Rochester, Minn.) dished a centering pass to Jenna Ruiz (Webster, Wis.) who found Lauren Maras (Alexandria, Minn.) down low on the goal line. Maras then fed it right back to Ruiz, who sniped a shot in the top right corner, extending the Ravens lead to 3-0.

  • The Ravens cashed in on the power play once again, this time in the 3rd period. Claire Casey whacked at the puck in front of the net and Mikayla Kelley was there to clean up the loose change to give the Ravens a 4-0 lead.
