HOW IT HAPPENED:
- LIU's Maggie Culp was a force for the sharks after she tallied a hat trick in the game including two goals in the first period and a third in the second.
- Franklin Pierce University freshman defender Courtney Swenson (Bolingbrook, III) was the Raven's lone goal scorer after she fired a shot from the blue line that was redirected by a Shark defender and into the net three minutes into the second period.
- After five goals were scored between the two teams in the first two periods, neither could find the back of the net in the third.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
- Jill Hertl (Highland Park, III.) made 21 saves on 25 shots after playing 58:20 of the game. Hertl was pulled late in the third to bring on the extra skater.
- Neither team found success on the power play; LIU: 0 for 4, FPU: 0 for 5.
- FPU's Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) had a solid night of faceoffs winning 11 of 15.
