WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 7, 2021) -- A four-goal first set the tone on Sunday night, and the goals kept coming throughout for the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team. With the rest of the world focused on some football game, sophomore forward Cassidy Jones (Stillwater, Minn.) scored twice, and freshman forward Emilie Prive (Morrisville, Vt.) and sophomore defender Bethany Ross (Canton, Mich.) added three points apiece, as the Ravens rang up an 8-1 victory over visiting Becker at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

With the win, the Ravens improve to 2-0-0 and sweep the weekend series from the Hawks, while Becker falls to 0-2-0.

Franklin Pierce needed just 31 seconds to get things going on Sunday, and never looked back. Prive put home the first of the frame's four goals, as she notched her first collegiate goal by banging home the rebound of a shot from fellow freshman forward Jenna Ruiz (Webster, Wis.).

The next three goals game in a span of just 6:05 through the middle stages of the opening stanza. At 9:13, Jones struck for her first goal of the night, as she stuffed home the rebound of a shot by junior forward Bridget Fagan (Millis, Mass.). While shorthanded at 11:36, senior forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) outfoxed Becker sophomore goaltender Madelyn Morgan and put home an unassisted tally. At 15:18, it was senior forward Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.) who finished off a one-time finish at the left post, after sophomore forwards Katelyn Brightbill (Annville, Pa.) and Becca Kniss (Eden Prairie, Minn.) combined to set her up on a back-door cut.

Franklin Pierce had the only goal of the second, on the power play, at the 6:45 mark. Prive took the initial shot on the play, from the right side, but hit Amato in front with the attempt. The puck caromed off Amato and into the left circle for senior forward Haley Parker (Londonderry, N.H.), who quickly fired home her shot from there.

The Ravens would push the lead out to 7-0 with a pair of goals in the first half of the third period. Just 62 seconds into the frame, while on the power play, Prive slipped a pass out front from the right wing for Ruiz, who finished off her fourth goal of the opening weekend. At 9:05, Ross worked the puck to Jones on the left side, and then Jones walked it out front and put home a nifty backhand finish.

Becker got on the board with a power-play marker at 11:41. From the right corner, sophomore forward Cassidhe Wozniak sent the puck to the top of the right circle for junior defender Gabby Petrisin. Petrisin slipped a pass back down to the bottom of the right circle for junior forward Clare Conway, who was cutting to the front of the net. Conway's initial deflection on goal was saved, but the rebound wound up in the back of the net to break up the shutout.

Sophomore defender Stefanie Caban (Fitchburg, Mass.) capped the scoring at 16:29 to create the 8-1 final. Ross got the puck to Fagan, who had her shot from the slot blocked. The rebound came out to the top of the left circle for Caban, who blasted it home from there.

Freshman goaltender Suzette Faucher (Middleton, Wis.) made her collegiate debut in the Franklin Pierce net and picked up the win (1-0-0) after stopping 14 of 15 shots on her net. Morgan (0-1-0) minded the Becker crease and suffered the loss after making 37 saves against 45 shots.
