RINDGE, N.H. (January 16, 2018) – Freshman forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team has been named New England Women’s Hockey Alliance Rookie of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 14, as announced on Tuesday by the NEWHA.

Amato piled up 10 points on four goals and six assists in the Ravens’ 2-0-0 weekend at Post on Friday and Saturday. On Friday afternoon, she matched the program record with seven points, on three goals and four assists, in a 9-1 win. In Saturday afternoon’s 8-1 win, she scored a goal and added two more assists for a three-point outing.

On the season, Amato has played in all 17 of the team’s games and is currently the club’s leading scorer with 22 points on 11 goals and 11 assists, both of which are team-leading figures as well. She has scored three power-play goals and two game-winning goals, and has tallied 72 shots on goal.

It marked the second time this season Amato took home NEWHA Rookie of the Week accolades, as she was previously honored for the week ending on Nov. 12. Franklin Pierce has now collected five of the last six Rookie of the Week awards.

The Ravens (10-6-1) have won six in a row and are unbeaten in their last eight (7-0-1). They return to the ice on Friday, Jan. 19, when they return home to host Saint Anselm. Opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon.
