MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (October 19, 2021) -- Entering the second and final round of the Music City Invitational with a four-shot lead, freshman Kesinee Prukmathakul (Bangkok, Thailand) of the Franklin Pierce University women's golf team did not need to be the best in the field on Tuesday, but still nearly was anyway. Her even-par 72 was tied for the second-lowest round of the day, as she coasted to a five-shot win in a 95-player field. At the team level, the Ravens backed up two shots with a second-round 307 (+19), but were still able to secure a fourth-place finish in the 16-team tournament. The event was hosted by Trevecca Nazarene at the 5972-yard, par-72 Old Fort Golf Club.

Prukmathakul took care of business in fairly steady fashion on Saturday. In the shotgun start, she opened her day on the par-4 fifth hole, which she bogeyed. She would later get the stroke back with a birdie on the par-5 14th, but otherwise turned in 16 pars on the way to her even-par 72. She was bettered on the day only by Malone graduate student Christina Williams, who used a one-under 71 to jump up two spots and finish solo-second. Williams' impressive 72-71--143 (-1) line still left her five shots back of the 66-72--138 (-6) turned in by Prukmathakul. Southern Indiana freshman Kylee Hormuth finished third at 70-76--146 (+2).

Behind Prukmathakul on Tuesday, Franklin Pierce got a pair of 77s (+5), from freshman Phisonlaya Ruayruen (Chiangmai, Thailand) and Micaela Leandro (Harlingen, Texas). Junior Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) rounded out the team's scoring four at 81 (+9), while sophomore Kayla Schuberth (Wrentham, Mass.) filled out the five-player lineup at 84 (+12).

It all added up to a 307 (+19) for the Ravens, which produced a fairly consistent tournament line of 305-307--612 (+36). After being tied for fourth at the midpoint, it was plenty good enough to secure a solo-fourth finish, eight shots in front of fifth-place Tiffin, at 306-314--620 (+44).

First-round leader Christian Brothers converted the lead into a victory with a Tuesday 305 (+17) to finish at 300-306--605 (+29). Montevallo, at 305-305--610 (+34), and Northwood (Mich.), at 301-309--610 (+34) finished tied for second, five shots back, and two shots in front of Franklin Pierce.

Individually for the Ravens, Ruayruen snuck into the top 10 as well, as her 74-77--151 (+7) line was good enough to get her into a four-way tie for 10th. Godek finished at 81-81--162 (+18), which tied her for 53rd, while Leandro's 86-77--163 (+19) put her tied-55th. Schuberth rounded out Franklin Pierce's participation in a tie for 70th, at 84-84--168 (+24).

For the Ravens, the Music City Invitational concluded the fall portion of the team's season. As the Northeast-10 Conference champion, Franklin Pierce has locked up the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship, which will be conducted at the end of the spring season.
