INDIANAPOLIS (April 26, 2021) - The Franklin Pierce University women’s golf team already knew it was headed to the NCAA Championship, after winning the Northeast-10 Conference Championship last week and earning the league’s automatic bid to the national tournament. The NCAA made things official on Monday afternoon, when the organization announced the full 36-team field. The Ravens were selected as the ninth seed in the East Region, and will travel to Carmel, Ind. East Regional competition is slated for May 3-5 at Prairie View Golf Club, and University of Indianapolis will serve as the host institution.

The Ravens take the region’s ninth seed after a spring season in which they posted a pair of victories. The big win was the most recent, as graduate student Zoey Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) fired a 36-hole total of 167 (+25) to finish as the individual NE10 champion and lead the Ravens to a successful defense of their NE10 title. The championship also gave Franklin Pierce an automatic bid to NCAAs, which the team will appear in for the second time in program history.

Franklin Pierce is the NE10’s only representative in the massive East Region, which consists of six conferences with automatic bids and stretches as far west as Missouri. Host UIndy earned the top seed after claiming the Great Lakes Valley Conference title. The Greyhounds are the 2015 and 2018 national champion and were national runners-up in 2016.

Three other regional sites across the country will feature nine teams apiece as well. The top three teams at each regional site will advance to the NCAA Championship National Finals, which will take place on May 11-15 at TPC Michigan in Dearborn, Mich.
