Morrison Concludes Collegiate Career With 19th Place at Nationals

HOUSTON (May 19, 2018) Franklin Pierce University golfer Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) ended her storied college career with a 19th place finish at the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship hosted by Texas A&M International and Harris County-Houston Sports Authority.

Morrison finished with a 300 (+12) scorecard over the course of the four rounds. She shot a 73 (+1) Wednesday, a 78 (+6) Thursday, a 74 (+2) Friday and a 75 (+3) Saturday on the par 72, 6,190 yard Bay Oaks Country Club course. Last year during the championship as a junior, Morrison tied for 47th place and never cracked the individual top-20.

"Camden Morrison put Franklin Pierce women's golf on the map in just four short years," said head coach Tyler Bishop. "She didn't come here as a freshman shooting low scores as she was an upper 80s golfer freshman year. She worked hard on her game day after day, year after year and was never satisfied and always wanted to get better. As a coach, you cannot want anything more than that in a player. This week in Houston was the icing on the cake for her collegiate career. Finishing top-20 this year in the National Championships is something she and I will remember forever. I am so proud of Camden and all that she has accomplished, but as great as a golfer she is, she is even a better person."

After the conclusion of the four rounds, Morrison led the whole 72 golfer field in par 3 scoring (2.88, -2) and she tied for fifth in total birdies (11) with three other athletes.

The co-captain teed off her last 18 from the 10th tee box at 9:35 a.m. central time. She shot pars during the first three holes on 10, 11 and 12 before tallying three consecutive birdies on 13, 14 and 15 to move to three under par. Morrison recorded three birdies on the short 14th hole this week, which was 125 yards to the pin. She fell to even at the conclusion of the back nine. On the front portion of the course, she bogeyed four out of the first six holes until a final birdie on the par 5, 447-yard seventh hole moved her to three over. Morrison added pars on her final two holes to end her tourney run.

The University of Indianapolis took home their second national title in four years topping runner-up California Baptist University by 38 strokes.

Morrison, the 2016-17 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Golfer of the Year, ends her decorated career with numerous medals (first place), a plethora of NE10 Women's Golfer of the Week honors and a NE10 Women's Golf First Team Selection. She will look to add to those accolades when golf awards are announced later this summer.
