Ravens Are Highest Ranked NE10 Team Following Day One in Tennessee

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (October 23, 2017) The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team traveled south to Tennessee to compete in the opening round of the 2017 Trevecca Music City Invitational Monday.

Golfers had to endure the elements Monday as rain peaked in a couple of times while the sun stayed behind the clouds the majority of the first round. The Ravens currently are in ninth place out of 17 squads and are the highest ranked Northeast-10 Conference opponent at the invite.

Team captain Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) leads Franklin Pierce with a 77 (+5) score on the par 72 course as she's tied for 11th place. Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) golfed an 81 (+9) through 18 holes and ranks within the top-50 in a tie for 32nd place individually.

Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) (85, +13), Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) (87, +15) and Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) (89, +17) all helped the Crimson and Grey to their 330 (+42) showing. FPU trails the University of Indianapolis by 30 strokes for the top spot on the team leaderboard.

Franklin Pierce concludes their final round of the fall season tomorrow.
