Women’s Golf finishes third at Lady Penman Invitational
NEW LONDON, N.H. (September 20, 2015) – Sophomore Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) backed up a great round of 80 on Saturday, by shooting an 82 (+9) on Sunday afternoon at the final round of the Lady Penman Invitational at Lake Sunapee Country Club. The event is hosted by Southern New Hampshire University.
Morrison's score put her with a sixth place overall finish, 13 strokes back of the lead that was won by Merrimack's Krystal Knight. Knight would shoot rounds of 76 and 73 to take the individual championship. Team wise, the Ravens finished third overall out of the six team field with a total of 659 (+75) after the final day.
Coming in the clubhouse close behind Morrison for the second consecutive day was the other top three Ravens golfers. They all finished finished within five shots within each other. The top score behind Morrison was sophomore Anna Haynes (Hopedale, Mass.) who used a second round 81 (+8) to jump up the leaderboard from the previous day and finish in a tie for ninth. Sophomore Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) and freshman Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) finished back-to-back on the scoreboard in 13th and 14th places, shooting two-day totals of 166 (+20) and 167 (+21) respectively. Rounding out Franklin Pierce's action in the field was sophomore Katy Lounsbery (Middletown, N.Y.), who improved her score from Saturday by 17 strokes, shooting a 112 on Sunday afternoon.
The Ravens return to action next weekend, September 25 and 26 for the Northeast-10 Championship, being held at The Village Club of Sands Point in Sands Point, N.Y.
