Ravens Stand in 4th Place After Day One of Golden Bear Classic

READING, Pa. (February 10, 2017) – The no. 20 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women's bowling team traveled back to Reading, Pa. and Kutztown University to take part in the first day of competition at Golden Bear Classic.

Currently, the Ravens are in fourth place of 12 teams with a total pinfall of 4,426 pins. East Coast Conference and no. 16 nationally-ranked Adelphi went undefeated on day one (5-0, 4,719 pins) and stand alone at the top, followed by Duquesne (4-1, 4,397 pins) in second and host Kutztown (4-1, 4,235 pins) rounding out the top three.

The Ravens were 3-2 on the first day of bowling and were victorious against Saint Peter's (922-834), Chestnut Hill (924-894) and Wilmington (881-743). Their two setback came at the hands of Coppin State (838-816) in the first match of the day and versus East Coast Conference opponent no. 16 nationally-ranked Adelphi (934-883).

In the win over Saint Peter's Krysta Peirce (Lenox, Mich.), Alexa Asta (Jackson, N.J.), Meggin Brooks (Rotterdam, N.Y.), Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) and Nicolette Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) knocked down a day one high 216 pins in the second game of the five game match.

Individually, Peirce recorded the Ravens top baker frame average (18.96) and Asta followed with an 18.2 baker average.

The Ravens return to the alley tomorrow for the second day of competition.
