Ravens Defeat Defending Champions, Finish Day at 3-2

MILLSBORO, Del. (November 18, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce women's bowling team traveled to the Millsboro Lanes in Delaware to compete this weekend at the Hawk Classic hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

The Crimson and Grey earned a huge win over no. 2 nationally-ranked and defending NCAA Champion Stephen F. Austin State University 1,015-900. The Ravens also bested Howard University in extra rolls 115-97 and started the day off with an 864-829 victory against University of Alabama at Birmingham. At the conclusion of the first day, FPU lost to no. 7 nationally-ranked Central Missouri 982-924.

On the season, the Ravens have a 20-11 (.645) record which is tops in the East Coast Conference.

Freshman Krysta Peirce (Lenox, Mich.) led the team in baker average after the first day, as she racked up a 19.86 average. Junior Nicolette Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) ranked second on the squad in baker average knocking down 19.55 pins. Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) rolled a 19.54 baker average and newcomer Jessica Marcure (Attleboro, Mass.) stroked a 19.00 average.

The Ravens return to action tomorrow for the second day of competition.
