Ravens Earn Three Wins, Wrap Up Day One in Fifth Place

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (October 15, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce women's bowling team opened up their 2016-17 campaign during day one of the 2016 Bud Whitman Memorial and finished the first day of competition in fifth place.

The Ravens earned three wins on the day defeating no. 20 nationally-ranked St. Francis (N.Y.) 966-953, Virginia State, 884-759 and no. 15 nationally ranked Saint Francis (Pa.) 864-823. The Crimson and Grey's lone loss came at the hands of no. 13 nationally-ranked LIU Brooklyn 916-993.

Delaware State leads the field of 19 squads with a 4977 total score. LIU-Brooklyn is in second place at 4969 and Adelphi ranks third with a total pin fall of 4727.

Junior Nicolette Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) led the team in baker average throughout the day knocking down 19.27 pins. Team captain Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) rolled an 18.05 baker average and newcomer Krysta Peirce (Lenox, Mich.) had an 18.74 average.

The Ravens return to action tomorrow for the second day of competition.
