Raven Bowling Selected for Third Place Finish, Davies Named Preseason Bowler of the Year
RINDGE, N.H. (October 14, 2016) – On the eve of their season opener, the Franklin Pierce women's bowling team has been selected to finish third in the 2016-17 East Coast Conference Women's Bowling Preseason Poll it was announced Friday afternoon by the league offices. Team captain Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) was also selected by the league's coaches as the Preseason Bowler of the Year.
10 days ago, the Raven women were selected seventh in the DII/DIII Preseason Poll. The Ravens were picked as the fifth best Division II program in that poll.
In the ECC poll, FPU earned 79 total points and one first place vote. Fellow Northeast-10 Conference opponent Adelphi who ranked No. 19 in the nation in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Preseason Top 25 poll, was picked to place first with 96 points and seven of ten first place votes.
Last year's runner up, Kutztown ranked behind the defending champion Panthers with 89 points and one first place vote.
Davies was selected as the Preseason Bowler of the Year after a standout sophomore season for the Ravens. Davies posted a Baker average of 191.8 and a traditional average of 196.1 with seven games over 230 and a high of 266 on the year.
She picked up numerous honors as well, including being named ECC Bowler of the Week once and was also a three-time weekly Honor Roll selection. In addition, Davies was the MVP of the Sacred Heart Bowl for the Cure Tournament, and also earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team and the ECC Championship All-Tournament Team.

The Ravens open the season tomorrow at day one of the KU Fall Bud Whitman Memorial hosted by Kutztown University.
