Junior Varisty Bowling Team Places Second at Bowl for a Cure

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (October 23, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce university women's bowling junior varsity team competed at the Pioneer Bowl for a Cure hosted by Sacred Heart University on Saturday.

The Ravens went 3-1 on the day finishing second overall.

In their first match of the day the Ravens took on Molloy. The Crimson and Grey came out on top 807-622 with high scores of the match coming from Katey Comstock (Hartland, Vt.) with a 200 and Sarah Busse (Commack, N.Y.) with a 178.

In their second match FPU faced rivals Kutztown, defeating them 878-820. Leading the way this match was Comstock with a 210 and Jenna Harrington (Barneveld, N.Y.) with a 184.

Their lone loss of the day was at the hands of host Sacred Heart. A close match in the beginning saw Sacred Heart pull away in the final frames to defeat the Ravens 901-834. High scores were by Harrington with a 194 and Monica Lombardi (Malden, Mass.) with a 181.

The Ravens then had a bye match posting a score of 849. The high score of the day from the J.V. squad came in this set from Lombardi of 225.

In the final set of the day FPU took on Felician as this match would determine the second place finisher of the tournament since both teams were tied coming into the match. A very close match throughout but the Ravens were able to pull away in the end 804-753. Consistent scores across the board led to the victory and second place finish to host Sacred Heart who finished the day with a perfect record 4-0.
