Jessica Davies

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (October 24, 2015) – Sophomore Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) shot a tournament-best 216 average over five matches, four of which came against competition with one bye round as the Franklin Pierce University Bowling team finished their day at 2-2 competing at the Bowl for a Cure Invitational, hosted by Sacred Heart University.

Davies used her 216 average to take tournament MVP in leading the crimson and grey to their two wins. However, their first match was against host Sacred Heart, and the Ravens got off to a rocky start to their day dropping the match 987-874. Davies led the Ravens with a score of 195, with sophomore Jessica Marcure (Attleboro, Mass.) posting a 187.

In match two, the Ravens faced off against Kutztown University, and were able to down them by a final score of 908-878. This time, it was sophomore Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) who put the team on her back and led them to victory with a 246, while Davies followed with a strong 192.

Match three became a tough luck loss for the Ravens, as they were defeated by Caldwell by only two pins, 887-885. Davies stayed hot and bowled a 233, while freshman Sarah Busse (Commack, N.Y.) stepped up with a 175 while Maurcure wasn't far behind with a 171.

The fourth match of the day became the final match against a competitor, as Franklin Pierce faced off against Felician College, and would end their day on a high note, taking the win 901-768. Davies finished off with the hot hand, bowling her best number of the day at 244, while the rest of the roster that featured Busse, Kelly, Marcure, and sophomore Nicolette Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) fell between 160 and 167.

The final match of the day for the Ravens was a bye round, where Franklin Pierce also featured some other bowlers as well. Leading the way was sophomore Brittany Hovan (Paramus, N.J.) with a 158, while freshman Meggin Brooks (Rotterdam, N.Y.) came in with the second-best score of the round with a 152.
