RINDGE, N.H. (July 31, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University bowling team made quite an impact in the classroom over the past year, as the Ravens had five student-athletes earn Academic All-NTCA honorable mention, as announced earlier this summer by the National Tenpin Coaches Association. In addition, the team was also was recognized by the organization for overall outstanding academic achievement.

To be named Academic All-NTCA, a student-athlete was required to receive votes in the NTCA's All-America voting at the end of the season. In addition, they must also have a 3.4 grade-point average for the 2014-2015 academic year. All student-athletes who earned a 3.4 grade-point average but did not garner All-America votes were listed as Academic All-NTCA Honorable Mention.

Franklin Pierce was represented on the Honorable Mention list by freshmen Curran Desjardins (Acushnet, Mass.), Rachel DesRuisseaux (Manchester, N.H.), Jessica Marcure (Attleboro, Mass.), Kaitlyn Poirier (Winchester, N.H.) and Rebekah Varin (West Warwick, R.I.).

Meanwhile, the team boasted an overall grade-point average of 3.34, one of 21 teams in the country to achieve the feat. To be named, a team must post a grade-point average of 3.2 or higher for the 2014-15 academic year.

The group helped the Ravens complete a successful inaugural season where they finished 52-44, capping off the year with a tournament win at the Hawk Flight Invite, hosted by Monmouth University on February 20-22.
