Women's Basketball: Ravens Win Seventh Game in a Row; Secure First Home Playoff Game in Nine Years

RINDGE, N.H. (2/27/2024) -- The Franklin Pierce Women's basketball team secured their first home playoff game in nine years and have won 7 straight heading into the NE10 playoff after beating New Haven on the road 70-59.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Chargers of New Haven came out hot shooting 50% from the field and 75% from the 3PT line amassing 17 points in the first quarter led by Aurora Deshaies who had 8 points in the first quarter.  
  • The Ravens in the first quarter started slow only shooting 35.7% from the field and 28.6% from the 3PT line tallying 12 points which was led by Leana Heitmann (Syracuse, N.Y) who made two three pointers tallying half of the Raven points in the first quarter.  
  • The second quarter was an electric one for the Ravens as they scored 20 points to the Chargers 7. The Ravens shot 53.8% from the floor and 75% from the 3PT line. Anna Badosa Soler (Girona, Spain) scored 12 of the Ravens 20 points in the quarter. While for the Chargers they shot 22.2% from the floor and 25% from the 3PT line.  
  • The Ravens continued to roll as they yet again scored 20 points in the quarter on 61.5% shooting from the floor and 100% from the 3PT line. The Chargers managed to come back and score 17 points in the quarter shooting 40% from the field and 60% from the 3PT line.  
  • Both teams scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, but the Ravens held on and were able to secure their 7th straight win. The Ravens shot 28.6% from the field and 33.3% from the 3PT line while the Chargers shot 53.3% from the field and 20% from 3PT range.  

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS: 

  • Anna Badosa Soler was the leading scorer for the Ravens with 20 points followed by Collete Mulderig (Scranton, PA) with 19 and Leana Heitmann with 16. For the Chargers Lindsey Hogan was the leading game scorer with 21 points followed by Aurora Deshaies with 13 and Charlotte Bassett with 11 
  • Franklin Pierce shot 46.8% from the field and 52.9% from the 3PT line and 73.9% from the free throw line. The Chargers shot 43.8% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range and shot 81.8% from the free throw line.  
  • The Ravens committed 12 turnovers to the Chargers 17 

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: 

  • With the win the Ravens close the regular season with No. 5 seed in the upcoming NE10 playoff where they will host a game against No. 12 seed Saint Michaels Friday, March 1st with tip off at 5:30 pm.
