Women's Basketball: Ravens Grab 6th Consecutive Win Over SCSU Owls, 48-43

RINDGE, N.H (2/24/2024) – With fans packed in the Field House for Senior Day, the Franklin Pierce University women's basketball program grabbed its sixth consecutive win Saturday afternoon over the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University, 48-43.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• In the first quarter, both teams traded baskets as the Ravens had a 12-10 lead over the Owls.
• The second quarter featured the Ravens shooting 3 for 6 from behind the arc and outscoring the Owls 15-7. Senior guard Anna Badosa Soler (Girona, Spain) had 10 points, 2 for 4 from the field, and 4 for 4 from the free-throw line as the Ravens led 27-17 at halftime.
•.In the second half, Southern Connecticut turned up the temperature on both sides of the ball including a 16-4 run offensively and held the Ravens scoreless for nearly 10 minutes. Eventually the Ravens broke through and clutch free-throws from Soler offered some breathing room as the the Ravens grabbed the 48-43 win over the Owls.
• Soler led the Ravens with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Sophomore guard Kenzie Sirowich (Seymour, CT) played 32 minutes off the bench and had 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Leana Heitmann (Syracuse, NY) played 35 minutes off the bench.
• Senior forward Colette Mulderig (Scranton, PA) had nine points and shot 3 for 8 from the field. She also had ten rebounds. Soler finished the afternoon with a double-double, scoring 18 points and hauling in ten rebounds. She shot 5 for 12 from the field, had four steals, and was a perfect 6 for 6 from the free-throw line.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
• Franklin Pierce shot 27% from the field (16 for 60). SCSU shot 33% from the field (16 for 49)
• Franklin Pierce shot 16% from behind the arc (4 for 25). SCSU shot 33% from behind the arc (4 for 12).
• Franklin Pierce shot 80% from the free throw line (12 for 15). SCSU shot 88% from the free-throw line (7 for 8).
• The Ravens had 19 points off turnovers, 13 second chance points, and 22 points in the paint.
• Franklin Pierce had 42 rebounds.
