HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens and the Panthers butted heads in the first quarter which proved to be the most competitive of the game. Five different FPU players scored at least a point led by Anna Badosa Soler (Girona, Spain) with four, which gave the Ravens the 12-11 lead to close out the first ten minutes.
  • Moving to the second quarter, the Raven's took flight and dumped in a game high 22 points. The team's starting five earned 17 of those points including Gisela Vazquez Segura (Igualada, Spain) and Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) who both tailed five a piece. A combination of eight team rebounds and only a single turnover in the second quarter generated ample opportunity for the Ravens to bury their shots in the offensive end. Closing out the second quarter, the Ravens held a 34-23 lead.
  • Coming out of halftime, Franklin Pierce kept the ball rolling as Adelphi's offense picked up the pace. Just in time for Valentine's Day, the FPU offense was sharing the love inside the arc where four of the starting five scored at least three points with Leana Heitmann (Syracuse, NY) grabbing the team's solo three pointer of the quarter. Though Adelphi's offense gained some momentum, the Ravens tallied another 18 points and headed towards the final quarter with a comfortable 52-38 lead.
  • During the fourth quarter, the Ravens proved they could put together a full 40 minutes as they kept the pressure on both sides of the ball. Together the team grabbed eight rebounds, tallied three steals, and blocked three shots. Burning the clock, the team was particular about their shots and hit five of ten from the field. As time ticked away and fouls piled up, the Ravens visited the free throw line six times and hit five of them to close out the game.
  • Mulderig led the Ravens with a team high 14 points including 6-15 from the field and and 1-1 from the free throw line.
  • Sirowich proved to be the most complete player of the night after she grabbed the team's only double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The Ravens took and hit more shots than their opponent Tuesday night as the team went 48% (27-56) compared to Adelphi's 32% (16-50).
  • From behind the arc, the Ravens held then edge shooting 50% (5-10) compared to the Panthers' 44% (7-16).
  • Points in the paint illustrated the final score Tuesday night as the Ravens dominated with 36 over Adelphi's 16.
  • Both teams visited the free throw line 16 times but Adelphi took the cake at the charity stripe hitting 12 of their shots compared to FPU's 9.
