Women's Basketball: Ravens Hold Off the Golden Knights in 55-52 Victory, Capture 11th Win of the Season

RINDGE, N.H (1/30/2024) -- The Franklin Pierce women's basketball team narrowly defeated the St. Rose Golden Knights 55-52 Tuesday night at The Fieldhouse to win their 11th game of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the first quarter, sophomore guard Kenzie Sirowich (Seymour, CT) led all scorers with six points as she drilled two three-pointers to provide the spark for Franklin Pierce. Towards the end of the quarter, the Golden Knights tightened their defense and got help from junior guard Syrita Faraj, who went 2 for 4 from the field with four points. 
• In the second quarter, St. Rose outscored the Ravens 11-3, and went ahead 21-16 to close out the first half.   
• In the third quarter, senior forward Colette Mulderig (Scranton, PA) scored nine points off the bench to give the Ravens their largest lead of the night. The Ravens outscored the Golden Knights 24-10 in the third quarter. 
• Franklin Pierce and St. Rose kept trading baskets in the final quarter, but the Ravens prevailed to a 55-52 win. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

• Franklin Pierce shot 35% from the field (16 for 46). St. Rose shot 39% from the field (21 for 54) 
• Franklin Pierce shot 41% from behind the arc (9 for 22). St. Rose shot 26% from behind the arc (5 for 19). 
• Franklin Pierce shot 82% from the free throw line (14 for 17). St. Rose shot 46% from the free-throw line (5 for 11). 
• St. Rose had 26 points in the paint compared to Franklin Pierce's 12.  
• Franklin Pierce had 29 rebounds.

• The Franklin Pierce Ravens hit the road to Springfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday, February 3, to take on American International College for the second time this season. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
