HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Both the Ravens and the Greyhounds entered the Field House Saturday with equal (7-4,3-3 NE10) records, but Assumption took control early and held the momentum for most of the game.
  • The most competitive parts of the game took place in the first and the fourth quarter, but the second and the third decided the final score. The Ravens and the Hounds duked it out in the first which closed out 17-13, a 4-point lead for the Hounds. Heading to the second, Assumption's offense stayed hot scoring another 19 points. On the other side of the ball, the home team stalled after only grabbing 9 points. At half, the Greyhounds held the 36-22 lead.
  • Following halftime, Assumption came out with an explosive third quarter offensively and tallied a game high 27-points. The Ravens offense came back to life after a sluggish second quarter but only tallied 14 points as the third quarter closed out with flipped scores: 63-36.
  • In the fourth, the Ravens outscored the Greyhounds 15-14, but it far from enough to secure the comeback.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Assumption shot well Saturday afternoon after the team went 59% (29/49) from the field, 61.5% (8-13) from the arc, and a whopping 92% (11-12) from the free throw line. Marina Callahan led the Greyhounds after she went 6 for 8 from the field and 3 for 3 from the free throw line for a combined 15 points.
  • The Ravens' offense struggled offensively after it shot 29% (17-59) from the field, 20% (2-10) from the arc but capitalized from the charity stripe shooting 66% (15-23). Janessa Gonzalez (Meriden, Conn.), Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) and Anna Badosa Soler (Girona, Spain) led the Ravens as each of them grabbed ten or more points, but no other Raven broke double digit points.
