HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • From tip off, the Ravens controlled the tempo of the game. In the first two minutes, Franklin Pierce went up 8-0 forcing the Hawks to call a time out to catch their footing. Keeping on the gas, the Ravens closed out the first quarter with a dominant 21-4 lead.
  • In the second quarter, the Raven offense hit a minor lull as the Hawks picked up speed. Chipping away at the deficit, St. Anselm outscored Franklin Pierce 18-14 but heading into halftime, the Ravens still held a 13-point lead.
  • After the 15-minute halftime break, both the Ravens and the Hawks came out slow and traded points throughout the third quarter. Only 19 points were scored between the two teams in the third, 10 of them by Franklin Pierce.
  • The Ravens finished the game the way they started it with a high octane offensive fourth quarter which capitalized on mistakes made by the Hawks. A combination of turnovers, missed shots, and fouls by Saint Anselm helped Franklin Pierce pour in 22 points and pull away with the victory.

 BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Kenzie Sirowich (Seymour, Conn) led the way for the Ravens both offensively and defensively. Sirowich tallied 16 points, two assists, and nine rebounds. Shooting the ball Sirowich went 6-8 from the field and 4-4 at the free throw line.
  • Capitalizing on mistakes, the Ravens scored 17 points on 17 Saint Anselm turnovers.
  • The win for Franklin Pierce came as a team victory, as the bench tallied a whopping 37 of the team's 67 points.
  • At the free throw line, the Ravens finished 14 of 16 shots (87.5%).
