Saint Michael's would open the scoring in the bottom half of the second when Brown doubled to left to drive in Danielle Markowski and Caroline Staples as the Purple Knights led 2-0 early. Franklin Pierce cut their deficit to one as sophomore backstop Ashley Deyo (Dover, N.H.) stroked a single to left to bring in Cortese.

Over the next six outs, the teams traded runs as Markowski ripped a base knock to right and Cortese doubled to left to keep the Purple Knight lead at one, 3-2. Saint Michael's would rally in their next two home half's to plate five combined runs on three run scoring singles and two on a fielder's choice error to take the contest 8-2.

Game Two: Purple Knights 4, Ravens 1 (Final)

Deyo's hot bat carried over into the second game of the day as she drove in the Ravens only run with a double. She also stole a base in the setback. Cortese recorded two more hits in game two with a 2-for-3 afternoon at the plate.

For the hosts, Torie Rathwell raked at the dish going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a two bagger. Leadoff hitter Fallon Tierney ripped a triple as well as the top three hitters were 7-for-10 with three runs scored and two RBI in the game.

Saint Michael's scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Staples that scored second basemen Christina Brazeau who reached via a single to left center. In the top half of the third, Ravens freshman starting pitcher Amelia Mamone (Wyantskill, N.Y.) deposited a single up the middle and was driven in later on a two-out RBI double to right center off the bat of Deyo to tie the game.

The game remained in a deadlock until the bottom of the fifth as Aleksandra Apkarian pinch hit for right fielder Kaleigh Fallon and singled to left to break the tie. The Purple Knights added two insurance runs via a bunt single and a double to right center to ice the game at 4-1.

The Ravens will return to the field tomorrow for a single game at Assumption with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
