RINDGE, N.H. (December 1, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce softball team has run an impressive food drive over the past few weeks.

Throughout the offseason the squad have been competing as two teams; the Mountain Goats and Leaf People. The team has done numerous activities over the course of the last month and they decided to compete with a canned food drive.

The squad collected over 500 cans that were donated to the Rindge Food Pantry. "Something that started out as a small in-team competition turned out to be an amazing way to give back to the community" said first year Head Coach Hannah Griffin. A team of 17 girls raised over 500 cans, it's pretty amazing to me. I had no idea we would even reach over 100 cans, but these girls go the distance with any task they are given. I am proud to be their Coach, as a team are so happy we were able to give back during this time of the year.

The Raven players were receptive to the idea and were able to donate the cans before Thanksgiving.

"When Coach put the idea out there everyone was immediately onboard" stated junior Cassidy Sorenson. "There wasn't one person that didn't help or contribute in some way, it was a great way for our program to help families in need out around the holidays."

"The cans we donated not only helped unite as a team in a friendly competition, but also allowed us to donate to those who may have gone hungry on this holiday weekend." said newcomer Abbie Paquette.
