CLERMONT, Fla. (March 14, 2010) – Junior second baseman Emily Griffin (Leominster, Mass.) recorded three hits, including a triple and a double, on Sunday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University softball team was swept by Molloy in a neutral-site, non-conference doubleheader at the National Training Center. The Ravens lost the first game, 3-2, and the second game, 2-1. With the losses, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-4 (0-0 Northeast-10).

Griffin and sophomore outfielder Jaymie Bilafer (Concord, Mass.) led the offense in the first game with two hits apiece. Bilafer knocked a pair of doubles and scored a run, while Griffin scored as well, to go with her pair of singles. Sophomore third baseman Meaghan O'Neal (Littleton, Mass.) also picked up a single for the Ravens.

Molloy opened up a three-run lead with single runs in the top of the second, fourth and fifth innings. Franklin Pierce pulled back within a run at 3-2 on a two-run single by junior infielder Erin Clark (Fort Ann, N.Y.) in the bottom half of the fifth. However, the game went scoreless over the final two innings as Molloy came away with the 3-2 victory.

In the circle, freshman right-hander Lindsay Hodges (Sherburne, N.Y.) went the distance for Franklin Pierce. Over seven innings, she allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits, walked one and struck out five.

In the second game, Molloy scored the only two runs it would need in the bottom of the second inning. Franklin Pierce would later pick up a run in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Bilafer, but that would be the entirety of the offense for both teams.

Griffin scored the lone Ravens run of the game and finished with a double and a triple.

Junior right-hander Kayla Johnson (Hudson, N.H.) pitched the second game for Franklin Pierce. Over six innings, she allowed two runs on five hits, did not issue a walk and struck out two.

The Ravens return to the field on Monday, March 15, when they play a pair of neutral-site, non-conference games at the National Training Center. Franklin Pierce will play St. Thomas Aquinas at 9:30 a.m. and Nyack at 11:30 a.m.
