Griffin Named to Northeast-10 All-Conference Team

The Leominster, Mass., native earns a spot on the All-Conference second team

RINDGE, N.H. (May 4, 2008) - Freshman Emily Griffin (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) of the Franklin Pierce University softball team was honored by the Northeast-10 Conference with a spot on the All-Conference second team, it was announced on Sunday afternoon following the conference championship series.

Griffin is the first Franklin Pierce softball player to earn a spot on the Northeast-10 All-Conference team after a successful freshman year. She started 41 of 42 games at second base in her first season with the team, setting a program single-season record with 13 doubles (T-5th NE-10) and adding a team-high three triples (T-8th NE-10). Griffin also finished second on the squad with a .307 average (42-for-137) and 14 runs batted in from the lead-off spot.

Griffin led the Ravens with 11 multiple-hit games during the 2008 season and recorded at least one hit in 29 of the team's 42 games this year at the top of the Raven lineup. She had a pair of three-hit games against Southern New Hampshire University and Pace University, and finished a doubleheader with Pace with five hits in seven at-bats, three doubles and two RBI.

Franklin Pierce finished the 2008 season with a 9-33 record, including an 8-20 record in the competitive Northeast-10 Conference. The Ravens completed their season with a convincing 9-1 win over Saint Michael's College on Wednesday evening.
