2008:
Northeast-10 All-Academic First Team Selection. Has had at least one hit in 12 of the first 13 games of the year, including the first seven. Went 2-for-3 with against Nichols (3/16), then hit a combined 4-for-8 with three runs scored and two RBI in a doubleheader against Manchester and Doane (3/18).

2007:

NE-10 All-Academic Team Selection. Served as team captain as a junior. Appeared in 37 games with 36 starts behind the plate for the Ravens. Finished second on the team with 15 runs scored and 13 walks. Banged out a career-high three hits and scored two runs in a season-opening win over Wooster (3/17). Went 2-for-3 with an RBI against New York Tech (3/21). Homered in her only official at-bat, while walking twice and scoring a second run against Saint Michael's (4/11). Went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored against Le Moyne (5/1).

Kate Surgen 2006:
Saw action in 34 games at the catcher's position for the Ravens. Posted a .216 batting average, with 16 hits, one double, eight runs scored, and six RBI. Totaled six walks and swiped one base. Led the Ravens to a 7-6 victory over Bentley College with a 2-for-3 performance and two runs scored (4/25). Posted a perfect 2-for-2 performance in the nightcap versus Bentley, with a double, one run scored and a season-high three RBI. Chipped in with one hit and one RBI in a win over Bowdoin College (3/19).

2005:
Started all 39 games for the Ravens. Posted 19 hits, ten runs and five RBIs. Notched her first collegiate hit against Hillsdale College (3/20).

Before Franklin Pierce:
A 2004 graduate of Hampshire Regional High School. Four-sport letterwinner in softball, basketball, soccer and cross country. Honor student and member of Drama Club, Select Chorus and Concert Band.

Personal:
Born March 18, 1986, in Northampton, Mass. Daughter of Sally and John Surgen of Southampton, Mass. Has one sister, Suzanne (25). Majoring in biology at Franklin Pierce. Was honored with the NCAA Sportsmanship Award for the 2006-07 season. Aspires to work in holistic veterinary medicine. Works in the community service office and with Kitty Rescue. Also rows on the Raven women's crew team.
